1. Services
By The People provides self-help legal document preparation services, including the preparation of documents for divorce, estate planning, probate, child custody and support, business formation, deeds, name changes, restraining orders, and evictions, along with notary public and small claims assistance. We are a Registered and Bonded Legal Document Assistant, not a law firm. We are not attorneys, cannot represent you in court, and cannot provide legal advice, opinions, or recommendations about your legal rights, remedies, defenses, options, or the selection of forms. We prepare documents only at your specific direction. Services are subject to availability and scheduling. We reserve the right to decline service for any lawful reason.
2. Fees and Pricing
Fees are quoted for the preparation of documents and are separate from third-party costs. Our service fees do not include court filing fees, recording fees, service of process fees, publication fees, or any other costs charged by courts or third parties. Any fee quote is non-binding unless confirmed in writing, and the final fee may vary based on the scope of work, the number of documents or parties involved, or additional forms required.
3. Payments
This website does not collect payments. All payments are handled directly outside the website. Payment terms are agreed upon before work begins. Failure to pay for services rendered may result in lawful collection actions.
4. Client Responsibilities
You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the information you provide. Because we prepare documents at your direction and cannot advise you on your matter, you are responsible for deciding what documents you need, what information they should contain, and whether they are appropriate for your situation. You have the right to cancel your contract for services within 24 hours of signing, as provided under California law.
5. Privacy
Your use of this website is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and handle your information.
6. Intellectual Property
All content on this website, including text, graphics, logos, and layout, is the property of By The People and may not be copied, reproduced, or reused without permission.
